Harper Texas Living!
Since the first settlers came in 1863, Harper has been a small, close-knit community tucked into the rolling Hill Country in central Texas.
At just over 2,100 feet it sits on the western edge of Gillespie County at the headwaters of the Pedernales River with Fredericksburg, Kerrville, Mason, and Junction all about a 30 minute drive away. Numerous ranchers make their living here and deer hunting enthusiasts from across the country flock to the area in the winter.
Community events are sprinkled throughout the year and always see a big turnout. From children's activities to rodeos, barbecue fundraisers to dances, locals from Harper and other nearby communities come and spend time together. Being in a place with such strong community ties reminded a recent visitor of his childhood in a small town:
